Featured: Get great wedding prep photographs by making the most of your morning
The Morning of a wedding day is a very special thing, and getting really good wedding prep photographs of you getting ready is really important to telling the story of your day. but how do you get really good pre photographs?
I know this sounds like a given, and in the back of your head you can already hear yourself saying “someone is coming to take photographs at my house of course it will be spotless” but then there is the little thing of your wedding happening and all of your bridesmaids in the house and suddenly the best laid plans to keep the place tidy go out the window. But do try and put things away, keep surfaces clear even if it means jamming it all in the wardrobe. You wouldn’t believe how distracting your bright pink dressing gown is handing on the back of the door can be in a photograph of your wedding dress.
Is every room fair game?
If you would rather that we didn’t take photos all over your house just let us know when we arrive, if like me you are not a naturally tidy person ( Graham is forever picking up after me) in order to follow my advice above about tidying up by throwing everything into one room, that way you can say that room is off limits but everywhere else fine. You would be surprised how where we will take photos in the morning trying to get the best light for something its not always where you would think.
Get everything set out ready.
If you possibly can, set up everything in one room. Take your dress out of its bag, have your shoes and jewellery out ready, have all of your bridesmaids dresses, shoes and jewellery out ready too and any other bits and bobs you have that are wedding related. Any invites left over invites or RSVP’s these can make great backdrops for jewellery, tying your whole wedding theme together. If you can’t get everything together have a bridesmaid or your mum on hand to tell us where we can grab things from saves you the stress of having to show us everything so you can relax.
Getting your hair and make done at a salon? Bring us too!
Graham just loves going to salons on the morning of a wedding, its just a different atmosphere from getting ready at home. There are lots of big mirrors and loads of light. Most of the time we will pop back to your house to get the details of the dress etc. after we have been with you so don’t worry that.
Boys getting ready near by?
If the boys are getting ready nearby and there is enough time in the schedule we will often pop by and get a few of them getting ready too. The boys can look just as good and the emotions are just as high there sometimes as with the bride and her household 🙂
and finally… Enjoy it Relax and make the most of it.
at this late stage there is nothing worth worrying about, just go with the flow and enjoy your day. Enjoy having all your best friends and closest family around for breakfast and make the most of everyone doing things for you. Also try and get a good nights sleep the night before, take a hot bath, drink some warm milk, read your favourite book anything that you find makes you relaxed and tired you will want to look your very best the next day 🙂
