Featured: 3 Important questions to ask yourself at your wedding photography consultation

Wow it’s been a busy week since the wedding Journal show packed full of consultations with brides and Grooms we met there. This got me thinking I written a lot about the questions to ask the photographer before to make sure you have all your concerns covered but I haven’t written anything at all about the questions to ask yourself to make sure you are really happy with your choice. So I am about to rectify that write here!

Firstly – Do you really like their work?

If you have got to the consultation stage with a photographer you have done a fair bit of research into the styles and have contacted photographers that you like but at the consultation you will probably get to see a lot more of their work than they would have online. You should be able to see full weddings in sample albums hopefully in lots of different venues, times of the year and weather conditions. You may even be lucky enough that they will have a sample wedding of your venue which will really give you an idea of how your wedding might look. But the question you need to ask yourself is, do you really like what you see? If you are thinking that the stuff is ok but not really wow then maybe this person isn’t the photographer for you. Ultimately photographers want to work with people who are passionate, which results in better photographs in the end.

Secondly – Do they offer what you are looking for?

This is a question both to ask yourself and to ask them. Firstly from their sales pitch do they offer what you are looking for? Unlike us here at Graham Crichton Photography not all photographs are so clear cut on their websites we are very open we cover most questions and the pricing is clear but also if there is something that you are particularly after, a specific cover for your album, for us to go to both houses in the morning (if you are close by) just ask we are very flexible.

Thirdly and most importantly! – Do you get on?

This is the most important question of all. Your photographer will be around you pretty much all day on your wedding day, and I mean all day! You need to get someone you can gel with, someone that you can have a laugh and a joke with as after all they will be the only person around all day that you haven’t invited to the wedding.
