Featured: Three Valentine’s Day Date Ideas Better than Dinner
Do you have your Valentine’s day plans all wrapped up? Restaurant booked? Flowers ordered? chocolates and teddy bought? at the least card bought? No? has the fear started to creep in? Fear that a candlelight Mickey D’s is now your only option?
Well after some thinking, let us give you a helping hand with will some fool proof Valentine’s Day Date Ideas. Ideas which will hopefully, make the special person in your life feel appreciated and loved, and save you from a chilly February evening in the dog house.
Cook dinner together
Restaurants are fabulous but sometimes a home cooked meal, (especially if you have a bit of craic cooking it) can be even better. Not to mention a whole lot tastier and cheaper than restaurants set Valentines day menus.
Have a chat and decide on your perfect Valentine’s day menu. Don’t just stick to the old favourites or things that you think you will be able to cook well. Trust me, sometimes a little bit of experimental cooking can be fun and YouTube is packed full of videos showing you exactly how to make something.
Last year for Valentine’s Day Graham and I cooked Cheese soufflé for the first time after watching it on YouTube and it turns out its REALLY easy and doesn’t need any sort of fancy cooking equipment its now one of our Date night specials. We also had a blast both watching the videos (some are very dodgy) and then trying it for ourselves. Especially after a couple of cocktails.
I mentioned this in my frugal January Dates wedding Wednesday but it works really really well for Valentine’s day too! especially if you think that your culinary skills won’t really cut it to cooking a full meal. Grab lots of nibbly things, shift the coffee tables get a blanket light lots of candles and enjoy just being able to spend some time together.
Go for Lunch NOT dinner
If you are truly set on a restaurant for Valentine’s day then why not try going for Lunch rather than for dinner? This year Valentine’s is on a Saturday making it much easier to get into town for Lunch (sorry shift workers, I feel your pain trust me). Another bonus is lunch menus are often less pricey and also less likely to be booked up even for big events like Valentine’s day! Why not recreate your first date only in at lunchtime? Then spend the rest of the evening together reminiscing about when you first started dating.
What ever you choose to do for Valentine’s day remember that although it is a day forces on us by card companies its a good a time as any to remember why we are with the one we love. I think its nice to make an effort every now and then to reconnect especially if you are in the middle of wedding planning and stress levels are high.

I don’t think we can say how amazing Graham and Hannah are in this review! But we are so glad we found Graham! We’re not one to pose for photos. Come the wedding day, it felt like a pleasure to have Graham and Hannah at the wedding! Our guests loved them, Graham is fun and enthusiastic, but also discrete!
