Willowfield Parish Church & Belfast Castle Winter Wedding: Sara & Iain
As published in Local Women Magazine April 2015
Sara and Iain are a great couple! They are both very active within the Willowfield Parish Church community, both playing in the praise band. So we knew from the off that this would be a very special day for them. Getting married not only in front of their friends and family but within their church community too. They had also chosen one of Belfast’s favourite wedding venues for their reception in Belfast Castle. Set in the picturesque Cave Hill Country park Belfast Castle offers stunning views of Belfast and lovely grounds. The ideal location even for a wedding in the winter time.
It was a crisp morning back in November, when we headed to meet Sara for her bridal prep shots. We got some great relaxed shots around the house, including some lovely detail shots of Sara’s gown. Which was an Opulence Gown from Biento-Madame Belfast.
Sara’s Stunning flowers were provided by Marie Cafolla Flowers of Newtownards. We headed outside to the garden to get some shots of them out on the deck. The wonderful pink’s and purples went beautifully, with the teal blue of Sara’s sisters bridesmaids dress.
We then headed across town to meet up with Iain and his grooms men. We got some great shots of them getting ready around the house and garden.
We headed the short distance to Willowfield Parish Church in East Belfast. Willowfield is a beautiful church of Ireland. We have had the pleasure of photographing a few weddings here. The Boys arrived and we got so causal wedding shots of them, while the we waited for Sara and her ladies to arrive.
First to arrive were Sara’s mum, sister and Flower girls. So while we waited for Sara and her Dad, we snook back in and got some shots of Iain at the front of the church.
Sara arrived and the service began. It was a wonderful service, punctuated by personal touches, heartfelt messages and prayers, from their friends within the Willowfield community.
Following the end of the service we all headed off to Belfast Castle. As this was a winter wedding and the light was fading fast, we headed straight out. We started with just Sara & Iain and then asked the bridal party to join us. They truly were fantastic to work with. Nothing was a problem and this is reflected in the stunning, intimate bridal shots they have below.
As the light started to fad, everyone heading in for the speeches and the wedding Breakfast. While everyone tucked into the delicious meal, we headed out of a wee break to the Abbey Centre for a coffee and a cake.
Sara and Iain has asked us to stay for an hour after their first dance. We stayed to get some shots of the party. We set up some Elinchrom studio strobes, to make sure we truly captured to mood. The DJ was a close friend of the couple’s. We left the party in full swing, as you can see below.

I don’t think we can say how amazing Graham and Hannah are in this review! But we are so glad we found Graham! We’re not one to pose for photos. Come the wedding day, it felt like a pleasure to have Graham and Hannah at the wedding! Our guests loved them, Graham is fun and enthusiastic, but also discrete!
