Awards: Northern Ireland Wedding Photographer of the Year: A Great Night at the Northern Ireland Wedding Awards 2016

Hi everyone! Last night was the very first Northern Ireland Wedding Awards organised by Creative Oceanic and held at the Europa Hotel in Belfast. Hannah and I went to their prestigious gala awards dinner and I am overwhelmed to announce that we took both the prize for Belfast Wedding Photographer of the Year AND OVERALL Northern Ireland Wedding Photographer of the Year 2016. I am both proud and amazed to have won these awards last night and it wouldn’t at all be possible with the help and support of Hannah in every aspect of the business, and from my brother Andrew for his ongoing help both behind the scenes and at wedding shows. But equally important are you guys! All my lovely brides and grooms who, over the years  have trusted me to go out in the lovely Northern Irish weather, to climb trees and sit on rocks in rivers or bails of hay and helped me to create such stunning work.  I couldn’t do it without any of you and want to thank your all from the bottom of my heart.

So last night! It was a Gala Black tie event as I said organised by Creative Oceanic and hosted by none other than our local leading lady, Pamela Ballantine! so as you can imagine we were super excited to have been nominated as finalists for Photographer of the Year Belfast Region – not only because it meant we got to get all dressed up with Graham in his tux and Hannah in her lovely dress but also because  it meant that we got to hobnob with the great and the good of the Northern Ireland Wedding Industry.

It was a great night and you could tell it was going to be from the moment we arrived when we were greeted at the door and shown through to registration,  then headed up to the bar to wait to be called in for dinner, where we had a chance to catch up with some of the other finalists, like the lovely Makeup by Kerri and Bannon and McCabe Photobooth. We also chatted with Ursula McCollam and Donal Doherty, both regional photography winners for the North East and West regions.

We all headed in for dinner, and as it was just the two of us attending we shared a table with the lovely Sinead and all her folks from Flowers by Arrangement. It was great fun at our table and soon enough the awards started with winning venues and wedding planners being announced. Pamela Ballantine was just brilliant at keeping the atmosphere up all night. Dinner was served half way through the awards and we were expertly entertained by the very talented local musician Matty Rea during dinner.  Following dinner the rest of the awards were announced and we sat on the edge of our seats waiting for the wedding photography category to come up. As all the other regions were announced we waited for ours and cheered on our colleagues from other parts of the country who we knew as they picked up their Regional titles. Then it was our turn – the Belfast region! and YAY we won! Thrilled to bits and looking forward to getting our photo taken with the regional winner certificate, but before we could even leave our seat, the overall winner of the photography category was announced. The winner who was called to collect their trophy and give a speech for Overall Wedding Photographer of the Year across the whole of Northern Ireland was… me! We couldn’t believe it! it! Graham Crichton Photography appeared on the screen as Pamela read out the name!! We did it! We are Northern Irelands Wedding Photographer of the Year 2016! So, an over joyed Graham headed up to the stage to pick up the trophy and get his picture taken. He was very humble in his acceptance speech. Next it was off down stairs for the winners interview and photo opportunity.  We headed back up just in time for the Florist winners being announced and fantastic news.. our table mates from Flowers by Arrangement in Dungannon won their Region too and just like us they took the Overall title too!! What a coincidence and what a great table to sit at!

it really was a fab night and everyone had a brilliant time! We are already looking forward to next year’s Northern Ireland Wedding Awards
