Castle’s Ruins Fairytale Dunluce Castle Wedding: Amanda & Derek

My favourite types of weddings are small ones – espcially elopments. I find these types of weddings truly magical and intimate. It is an absolute honour to be asked to be part of a couple’s big day, but even more so to be part of something so small, yet with as much meaning.

When Amanda called and asked if I would be part of her’s and fiance Derek’s Irish elopment, I just had to say I do! So, on a beautiful summer’s day, Hannah and I ventured up the coast to the beautiful Dunluce Castle where we met the couple for the first time, as they had flown over from the United States to make their vows.

It wasn’t the first time I had been to Dunluce for an elopement, and I am sure it won’t be the last. It is such a special place (that you might even know from Game of Thrones!). The ceremony was so relaxed and small that, my wonderful assistant and wife, Hannah, performed the hand tieing ceremony herself.

We then spent a good three hours wandering around the ruined castle itself (and a big thanks to the folks who run it, who were awesome!). Just as the weather started to change, it was time to head to Portrush, where we got some pictures outside Barry’s amusement arcade… and then off for a pint of Guinness 😉
