We’re delighted to have teamed up with the National Dog Portrait Awards 2019 to help launch their first ever National Dog Portrait Photography Awards. Now that we’ve been vetted (excuse the pun) we are looking to create some absolutely “pawesome” dog portraits to submit! Do you think your furry friend has what it takes?

What are the National Dog Portrait Awards?

The National Dog Portrait Awards is a new photography competition open to dogs and their owners across the UK. We’re on a mission to find the nation’s best professional dog portrait and most photogenic pooch. Whether you’ve got a Poodle with oodles of personality, or a debonair Doberman, we want to see them captured in all their glory.

But it’s not just glory that you and your furry friend will win. There are fantastic prizes for the best three portraits, including a top prize of £1500 cash and a £500 framed print of your photo.

Entry costs just £10 and all profits will go to UK dog charities voted for by you. Think your dog would make a magnificent portrait? Then find your nearest photographer today.


My dog is amazing, how do I enter?!

Entering the National Dog Portrait Awards is easy. Just use the form at the bottom of this page to find a date that suits to have your dog photographed and we will book you in. We take a £25 deposit… but this is fully refundable.

On the day of your shoot, bring your dog to the studio looking their best and we will take their (potentially award-winning) portrait. You can include props, or you can keep it simple, whatever you think will show off their personality to the full.

The photoshoot will be an experience. You or even the whole family can join in if you like. But it has to be a portrait of your dog alone that is entered for the competition.

At the end of your shoot, we will pick a time that suits you and your gang to come back and see all the images we’ve captured together. You can decide which one you’d like to submit for the competition, and pay your £10 entry fee. You can also pick any others that you’d like to buy as prints or portraits, but there’s no obligation to purchase. Nobody likes a pushy sales person!


My cat is awesome, can they enter?

Sadly, no. We’d love to see their portrait, but no matter how amazing your cat, lizard, parakeet or tortoise is, they can’t enter this particular competition. Only dogs are allowed.


I have more than one amazing dog, can I enter them all?

Yes!  You can only enter each dog once, but you can enter as many dogs as you like. Each new entry is subject to the £10 entry fee, but you will only need to book one appointment.


What you get when you sign up

  • A professional dog photo session at our studio for your dog (and even your family if they want to join in! – up to 3 dogs or up to 8 people)
  • Come and see your pictures a week after your shoot to pick your favourite picture to enter in the competition (£10 entry fee required)

By booking a session with us you agree to these terms & conditions:

By booking a session with us you agree to the following terms and conditions: Your session booking fee includes your chosen session type at a pre-agreed time. Unless otherwise stated, your session does not include any products or digital images. Your session fee is non-refundable. Please tell us what the purpose of your portrait is when you book (e.g. family portrait, portrait of your children, portrait with your dog). We cannot be held responsible for any subjects who are not co-operative and may terminate your session if any or all of the subjects are not co-operative or their behaviour is not deemed acceptable by the studio. It is your responsibility to ensure the good behavior of those being photographed. Pets need to have some degree of “house training”. Your session will take place at our studio at Portview Trade Centre. Parking is provided on site free of charge. If you session is out of studio hours the security gates may be closed. When you arrive, if this is the case, please call us on 02890 99 77 98 to gain entry to the business centre. You may bring additional clothing with you if you wish to change outfits during your session (subject to time restrictions). A range of portrait shots will be taken. If a baby is involved, the baby will only be photographed if they can sit up and with at least one other family member. We do not offer newborn or baby photography. Headshots will not be taken. Poses will be chosen by the photographer. Unless otherwise stated, family portraits are for a minimum of 3 people and up to a maximum of 8 people. Unless otherwise stated, pet portraits are for a maximum of 3 pets (depending on the size of the pets). If a subject is under 18 years of age, a responsible adult will need to attend and sit in during the shoot. If you are running late please let us know as soon as you can. Your session may need to be rescheduled as we are a busy portrait studio. If you are unable to make the session please let us know at least 24 hours prior to the shoot. We can then reschedule the session for you free of charge (subject to availability). Promotional “offer” sessions cannot be rescheduled and failure to attend will result in your booking fee being lost and your shoot cancelled. Otherwise, sessions can only be rescheduled once. Failure to attend your rescheduled session or failure to notify us in time will result in your booking fee being lost. If any members of your group suffer from limited mobility, this must be made clear to the studio before booking so we can facilitate. Access to a lift is available until 6pm during the week and 12 noon at weekends. Outside of this there is no lift access, so your session will need to be scheduled around this if a lift is required. You will be sent a price list by email upon booking (or on request before booking or by following this link: and given a price list and shown the products available to purchase at the end of your session. At this time, an appointment will also be made for you to return to see your pictures (usually a week later). At your “ordering session” you will be shown a range of your pictures, chosen by the photographer and given a chance to purchase any products that you wish to purchase. All decision makers who were present at the shoot must also attend the ordering session. If for any reason a decision maker cannot attend the ordering session, you must make the studio aware at the earliest convenience so that the ordering session can be re-arranged. If you arrive at your ordering session and not all decision makers are present, your ordering session will be cancelled and you will be asked to return at a different time. You may be charged a £50 fee for this. Images are only presented in person at our studio and will not be placed online in a gallery. Only images you choose will be processed/edited. All orders need to be paid for at the end of the ordering session. For orders over £250 we offer a payment plan, if required. Good paid for by payment plan will not be ordered until full payment has been made. All orders need to be picked up in person from the studio and cannot be posted. The proof images you will be shown are copyright and attempting to copy them is an offence and breach of copyright law. Cameras are not allowed in the studio. Copyright will still remain with the photographer. Using a non-purchased proof, for example, is not allowed. If we find you doing this we will invoice you for the full amount of the image plus an illegal use fee of £200. Failure to pay this would also result in legal action being taken against you to recover our fees. If you wish to come back and see your images again after your initial viewing, we can arrange this for a £50 fee (subject to availability). We reserve the right to use your images for marketing/promotional use. No mobile phones or cameras are permitted in the studio. Using a mobile phone camera or camera in the studio at your shoot or viewing will result in immediate termination of your shoot/session and any vouchers/credit remaining will be void (e.g. if any pre-paid or included promotional products were included).
