From Couch to Frame: How to Prepare for Your Pet’s Close-Up

We get it, your pet is the ruler of the sofa (and probably your heart), and now it’s time for their moment in the spotlight. Whether they’re a laid-back lounger or a ball of zoomies, getting your pet ready for their portrait session doesn’t have to be a big ordeal. At our studio, we’ve worked with pets of every temperament, and we’re here to make it a relaxed and fun experience for both of you.

Here’s how to prep your furry family member for their close-up without the stress.

Keep It Simple: A Little Grooming Goes a Long Way

No need to book a full day at the groomer (unless that’s already part of their pampering routine). A gentle brush the night before is usually enough to keep coats looking neat and tidy. Give their eyes and mouth a quick clean, and maybe avoid any last-minute muddy adventures on the way to the studio (trust us, we’ve seen it all, and we’re still smiling!).

We’re not after perfection, we’re after personality.

Calm and Collected (or At Least Close Enough)

If you’re wondering how your pet will cope in front of the camera, don’t worry. We’ve got plenty of tricks up our sleeve. Whether your pet is super chilled or bouncing off the walls, we’re well-versed in working with all kinds of characters.

Bringing along their favourite toy or some treats is a great idea as it helps them settle in and makes the whole experience feel more familiar. Need a few minutes for a sniff around and a bit of reassurance? No problem at all.

A Stress-Free Experience (for You, Too)

This isn’t our first rodeo, we’ve spent years working with pets and their people, so we know how to create a calm, welcoming atmosphere. We never rush sessions and always work at your pet’s pace. Whether it’s giving them time to warm up, coaxing out a cheeky grin, or waiting for that perfect head tilt, we’re incredibly patient (and very good with squeaky toys).

And if you’re feeling a little nervous yourself? That’s totally normal, we’ll guide you through the whole thing, so you can relax and enjoy it.

It’s All About the Real Moments

You don’t need a perfectly posed pup or a cat with modelling experience. Some of our favourite images come from the in-between moments, the goofy expressions, the curious tilts, the unexpected licks. Those are the photos that really capture the soul of your pet.

So bring along their quirks, their fluff, and their fabulous personalities and we’ll do the rest.
