The Inside ‘Scoop’: The Blog of a Northern Ireland Portrait Photographer

Before You Book a Pet Portrait PodCast: Episode 8 – What Do You ACTUALLY GET From a Professional Pet Portrait Session?

One of the most common points of uncertainty for people considering a pet portrait session is not the experience itself, but the outcome. There is often a vague idea of photographs at the end, without a clear sense of what people actually receive or how those images are meant to live beyond the screen.

That uncertainty can be enough to cause hesitation. So today, I want to explain what people usually get from a pet portrait session, and why the end result is designed to feel tangible, considered, and part of your home rather than something that simply exists digitally.

What do people actually get from a pet portrait session?

What people get from a pet portrait session is finished artwork designed to live in their home, not just digital files.
The images are created with a final outcome in mind from the very beginning, whether that’s wall art, a collection, or something more personal.

This is another area where uncertainty sometimes causes people to hesitate, simply because they don’t know what the end result usually looks like. So let’s make that clear.

Do I have to decide what I want before the session?

No, you don’t need to decide anything in advance.
The session is about creating the images. The outcome comes later, once you’ve seen them properly.

Most people find it impossible to imagine what they’ll want until they see how their pet has been photographed. That’s why decisions are never made on the day of the shoot.

What do people usually choose?

Most people choose some form of wall art for their home.
This might be a single statement piece, a small collection, or something that fits a specific space. Others prefer albums or more discreet pieces that feel personal rather than prominent.

There is no right answer here. What people choose depends on their home, their taste, and ultimatly what images they like the best.

Why wall art?

Because wall art changes how photographs are experienced.
Images on a wall are seen differently from images on a screen. They’re noticed in passing. They become part of the room. Over time, they stop feeling like photographs and start feeling like part of the home.

That’s why these images are created with scale, balance, and longevity in mind.

What if I don’t know what will suit my space?

You’re not expected to imagine it.
If it helps, you can send photos of your rooms and walls, and we can create realistic mock-ups showing your portraits at the correct size on your actual walls.

This removes a lot of uncertainty. Instead of guessing whether something will be too large, too small, or in the wrong place, you can see it before making any decisions.

It also allows you to compare layouts, framing styles, and arrangements calmly, without pressure.

Do people ever feel pressured into choosing something?

No. Not at all!  The process is designed to guide, not push.

We stand by out no pressure promise – we want you to enjoy your time with us and to walk away with images you genuinely love. if the photographs we create are not right for you then there i no obligation to buy anything at all. You are alwayts in control and your comfrot comes first. Some people fall in love with one image. Others want a group.  All of those responses are normal.

What happens once I’ve chosen?

Your chosen pieces are finished carefully and professionally.

Our finished art works are printed in house and framed locally, where we can ensure absolute quality of the finished products. While there are some products that are produced fully by external labs we only use suppliers that meet out high standards.  They’re produced to last, both in terms of materials and design.

These aren’t temporary products. They’re intended to live with you for years and to age well, visually and emotionally.

What people usually say afterwards

Most people say they hadn’t fully understood what the outcome would be until they saw the images and visualised them in their space.

Once they do, everything clicks.

The products stop feeling abstract. They start to feel personal.

The important thing to know

You’re not buying “photos.”
You’re choosing how a relationship is represented in your home.

The outcome of a pet portrait session isn’t just images. It’s something tangible that becomes part of your everyday environment.

And that’s why, for most people, the end result feels far more meaningful than they expected.

Once people see their images and understand how they can live in their space, the process usually becomes very clear. The outcome stops feeling abstract and starts to feel personal.

What people take home is not just a set of photographs, but something that represents a relationship in a physical, lasting way. Something they see daily, not something that sits forgotten on a hard drive.

That is why there is no pressure and no expectation to choose a particular outcome. You decide what feels right for you, your home, and your life.
